Back Forward Work pool name

A work pool name is the Short Description field of a Class form that corresponds to a Class Group — a collection of work types. This class is known as the container class.

A user may have the ability to access to more than one work pool (as recorded in the user's access group). One of these is considered the current work pool.

Changing the current Work Pool — Designer Studio

Select the Switch Work Pool > name from the Application menu to learn or change your current work pool.

Your Application Explorer display changes to reflect the current work pool.

Changing the current Work Pool — User portals

As you enter or report on work items, one work pool is in force. The current work pool name appears in the Work Pool Selector at the top-right of the Dashboard. (Depending on a setting in a user's portal rule, the Work Pool Selector may not be visible.)

Features affected

If you have access to more than one work pool, be aware of the features that are affected by your designation of one as current:

Notes

Through fields on the Access Group form, developers control which users can access which work pool names. The system determines the text for the work pool name from the Short Description value of a class rule. The property pxRequestor.pxCurrentWorkPool on the requestor page holds the work pool.

Some users may have access to only a single work pool and do not use the Monitor Activity workspace. Such users never need to see or use the Work Pool Selector. Your application can include a custom portal rule (Rule-Portal rule type) that doesn't display the Work Pool Selector.
