Configuring advanced options for editing specifications

You can edit specifications externally by using Microsoft Word. Your changes are attached to the specification when you save and close Microsoft Word.

This option is available on the Application Profile landing page and the Specification form.

A standard named Rule-Application-UseCase.pySpecificationDescription supports editing specifications.

You can customize this template by adding static text, field codes for dynamic content, and any other project specific details.

  1. Open the standard template.
  2. On the Save as menu, click Specialize by class or ruleset. Save the copy in a ruleset in your application stack.
  3. Click Edit Word Template to open the Word document associated with the template.
Alternatively, you can upload an existing template with your custom changes.
  4. Update the Word document to include your new text and field codes.
  5. Save your changes and close the Word document.
  6. Click Save on the custom template rule form.
Result: The first time that you use the option to edit a new or existing specification with Microsoft Word, your custom template is applied.
Note: You cannot use custom templates with existing specifications that already have a Word description attached.
