Processes in a stage

After you add stages to a case type, creating processes in those stages is the next level of organizing work in your application. Processes represent workflows and contain a sequence of steps that users follow to move a case closer to resolution. In your application, processes are implemented as flows.

Before adding a process to a stage, consider what work is accomplished when the process is run, how the process fits into the sequence of other processes within the stage, and who performs the work at run time. This information will help you identify which process type and configuration options to use.

Visual presentation

Use Case Designer to view the processes in each stage of your case type. Processes can run in sequence or in parallel when the case enters the stage. Each process is displayed as a tile that contains individual steps. When a process has focus, the configuration options for that process are displayed in the contextual property panel of Case Designer.

If a process has a complex configuration, such as branching or advanced steps, the steps are not displayed in the tile and you cannot access configuration settings in the contextual property panel. Use Process Modeler to update a complex process, by modifying the underlying flow diagram.
