Adding a single-value field to a form

Add a single-value field to a form to collect an individual piece of information from users as they process a case. For example, you can add a Phone field type to a form that prompts users to enter their home telephone number.

Note: Some advanced field types, such as Java Object, are not supported in Case Designer. To add advanced fields to a form, you must manually update the underlying section rule for the form.

To add a single-value field to a form:

  1. Open a case type in Case Designer.

  2. On the Life cycle tab, click an assignment or an approval step.

  3. Click Configure view.

  4. Click + Add field.

  5. In the autocomplete field that is displayed, enter a unique label.

Do not use px, py, or pz prefixes in a label because they are reserved.

  6. From the first list, select a field type in the Simple or Fancy category.

Caution: You cannot change the type of a field after you close the form.

  7. From the second list, select a display mode that is supported by your field type.

  8. Optional: Click the Gear icon to view the available options for a field.

Some single-value fields, such as picklists, require configuration before they are fully functional.

  9. Optional: Drag a field to change its position on the form.

  10. Click Submit to create a property that stores the value of the field.

The name of the property is set to the label that you provide, with spaces removed.

After you add a field to a form, you can reuse it on other forms in your case type.
