Decision Trees are best used for complex if/then/else statements,
whereas
Decision Tables are used when we need some output based on same property inputs with varying values.

  • If you're making decisions on series of data that are different from one branch to the next, use decision tree.
  • If you're making decisions against the same data element, use decision table.
  • If you're making decisions on the basis of only 1 or 2 values, then use MapValue.
  • If you want to get a Boolean returned, or when your decision employs a lot of complexity but doesn't need to be applied to a lot of cases, consider using a When rule.

Hi Srikanth,

If possible can you pls provide real-time examples for MapValue, Decision table & decision tree.

  • If you're making decisions on series of data that are different from one branch to the next, use decision tree.
  • If you're making decisions against the same data element, use decision table.
  • If you're making decisions on the basis of only 1 or 2 values, then use MapValue.

Tnx,

Prakash

Dear Srikanth,

The differences are correct.

But how to call Decision tree from Decision Table or Decision Table from Decision Tree..?

Regards,

Anil Sadineni.

Hi Anil,

You can call Decision Table from a Decision Tree but you can not call a Decision Tree from a Decision Table.

Thanks,

Venkatesh

What is the reason we are unable to call Tree from Table ?
