Ruleset Version Password

Is there a clean way of erasing/changing the edit/unlock password of a locked ruleset version? Also, what kind of encryption is used for passwords in PRPC?

Hi can you be more clear on what are the ruleset versions you want to unlock, as pega rulelsets are locked by default and it is not advisible to inlock the pega rulesets and change the default pega rules.

Thanks,
Vijay.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't want to unlock the default Pega Ruleset(Pro-Com, WB etc.) versions. All my application rulesets versions have been locked before migrating to another environment and the sys-administrator forgot [:)] the password for one of the application rulesets versions .

I understand that there should be no need to unlock the locked ruleset as we can always override the rules in a higher version of the same ruleset and there may be risks involved to unlock ruleset version, but still for the sake of safety we want to know the suggested approach to unlock ruleset version.

I believe the version password can be erased and versions can be unlocked using an activity, but I was looking for a more cleaner way of doing that.

Thanks.

Searching the PDN Forum for version unlock will bring up a post from December which may answer your question.

Do a open by handle of the R-S-V rule in an activity and reset the pyversionsecure and change the pypwdcurrent propertie if you want to set a new password and resave the page. Do not open the record(R-S-V) using lock as the R-S-V class does not support locking and you will end up with an exception on screen. Hope this helps you.[:)]
Thanks,
Vijay.

Thanks Jon,Vijay,

I used an activity similar to this as a make-shift solution to unlock the version (Obj-Open instead of open by handle). I didn't like the process as the activity does not take lock on the R-RS-V rule. Is there any Pega's recommended way of doing this? I didn't find anything in PDN.
