Question

Reading blob from alternate database:

Reading blob from alternate database:

We have a repliaction database where PR4_RULE from source is copied. Is there a way to retrieve the blob from that alternate database?

We created a new class and mapped that to that replicated table. When we tried to do the Obj-Open-by-Handle , it is opening the blob from the source database instead of the alternate database.

Thanks,

Naga

Hi NagaRajan, Good Morning!

List View rules support use of 'Alternate database'. The option is available in content tab.

So, would it be convincing to attempt calling the List view [Rule-Obj-ListView.ShowView] via Activity rule passed with pzInskey?

Please share your thoughts/observations, Thank you!

1. Make sure the alternate database is correctly referenced in the database table instance mapping for the new class you have created.

2. Please re save the database table instance and restart the server by clearing the cache ( Restart helps sometimes )

Thanks

For alternate DB (reports DB feature)

  1. ListViews can open the entire BLOB if the "content” contains an unexposed column.
  2. If you want to read specific unexposed columns, a report definition can also be used. This is only available from 7.1.6 and beyond.

From your use case I understand that you have two classes. One which points to the source DB and the other to the alternate DB.

  1. Did you create a new Data-Admin-DB-Table for this new class
  2. If the answer to (1) above is yes, and it's a new class, then why map it in alternate DB? This database can be the primary for this class in the Data-Admin-DB-Table.
