Asynchronous

Is it possible can we call Activity as Asynchronous? If yes,can you please explain me how we can make activity call as Aysnchronous with out flows. Thanks Kanth

I'm a little unclear at what you are trying to do here.

If you don't want to call this activity within flow processing, then I have to assume you are either referring to an activity called by an agent, or by a service provided to external systems by Pega, or a stand alone activity called by some other means...

Can you explain how you want to call the activity, and in general terms, what you want to happen when the activity is called?

I have the following situation.
Activity A calls the Activity B.
Activity B have the some JMS calls under Java step.
Currently its taking time to get the response back from service under Activity B.
So we are expecting Activity B can call Aysnchrounous with the separate Application Request?

I am not sure whether an activity can be called asynchronously or not, but most of the connect-rules, including Connect-JMS, have the option of "Run In Parallel".

Hi Kathali

You can try to call you activity in a flow which will be a spin off from the parent flow

Example

Flow A has Activity A which then calls Activity B(which should be asynchronous). keep the Activity B in Flow B and spin off from Flow A

Currently we are not using any connect-jms services. Is there any chance to implement Activity as Run In Parallel with out connect-jms/connect-java?

If we go through flow approach we need to handle existing production work objects which is costly for my project.

We have a flow shape called "Assignment-Service" which was specifically designed for making asynchronous service calls in flows. The returning call should call the resumeWorkProcess activity, which will restart the flow. Note that resumeWorkProcess takes a parameter 'taskStatus', which is the flow action to proceed down.
