If you are removing all pages you should be good. That said, Chunzhi Hong idea of bench marking would be good.
I see that you have use pyCaseActionArea and i have tried the solution in Pega 7.1.7 wthout CPM. You could probably inspect the FlowAction name and try chaning the CSS class. And also check if it is the same as I have mentioned.
The exception stack you have identified doesn't have optimize schema code in it. Perhaps share the complete log or enter a ticket for this. If you want to understand what is causing it to get stuck, thread dumps will help.
