You would need to pass it as JVM arg, if you using tomcat you can create setEnv.bat or simply pass it in JVM arg syntax: -DNodeType=Stream

With Obj-Open, you are only providing the keys so the rule resolution process would be involved; whereas, with Obj-Open-by-Handle, you are providing the specific instance you want to open.
