Question

Saying goodbye to Flash in Chrome

We are migrating to Pega 7.31, our release date is the End of September. This morning, I saw this post from google Chrome :
https://www.blog.google/products/chrome/saying-goodbye-flash-chrome/

We recommend Google Chrome for our developers because IE has too much bug and it is slower than Chrome.

What will happen with the referencing rule tool with the google annonce ?

Best Regards

Flash will be completely removed from Chrome toward the end of 2020. Other modern browsers will follow the same approach.

In the next Pega Platform release coming early 2020, we will replace the old flash-based referencing rule widget by a new widget used auto-generated UI. We will also provide a component on Pega Exchange for customers running older Pega Platform releases that will replace the old widget.

Look for update in 2020 on this topic on the community or pdn. I will update this thread with more details once these tools are available.

Is Pega 8 dependent on flash as well?

Also found another pega article listing following dependencies. I am assuming all this will be addressed in the upcoming fix. Is the charts referenced below impact end users as well? can you expand on  "few other" charts?

Reference Rules, the Declarative Network Analyzer, and a few other charts accessible from the Designer Studio.

What versions will the Pega exchange component cover? Will it cover all 7.x versions?

It is too early to tell yet - Testing all 7.x versions will be a significant effort. The current thinking is 7.3 and higher. It will depend on what functionality needs to be used for the auto-generated UI to work.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for the update. I was on the lookout for this for the last few weeks. Do you have insight if I will be able to use the replacement component on Pega v6.1 apps? I still have multiple business processes running on v6.1. Also the same question for v7.3.
Can you tell us if this solution is coming in line with the next Pega Infinity release 8.4 or separately? What is plan for Chart related development which also uses Adobe Flash?
I appreciate your response.
