Report with drill down details not working as expected

Hi All,

We have a requirement in reporting. one main report which should have drill down report.

Main report will display maximum salary in each department of an organization and drill down should display more details of the employee having maximum salary in specific department on which user tries to see the details.
Problem is we are getting all rows instead of the one having maximum salary in drill down report, as it is considering all rows which were used to find maximum salary.

Note: If we use 'count' summarize option in report it will work as expected, but 'Max' is not working as same.

Can anyone help me in solving this issue.

Is it possible to define the drill down report or pass some filter criteria down to it to achieve this?

I'm interested in hearing more about how count worked, but max did not. If you drill down from a count... what record would this be drilling down to? Wouldn't this be all records which made up said count

For this requirement, use the concept of sub-reports.

Have the main report to display the details of employee and the sub-report which does the grouping on departments and maximum on Salary.

Matching condition is probably match the department of main and sub reports and match the salary of main report with max(salary) of sub-report.

I haven't tried but I guess this suggestion should work with minimal changes.

In this case, the drill down report needs to be joined with main report with matching employee ID.
