Word Template in Clipboard?

I would like to generate a word template and then collect the string of data from the clipboard. Currently the users are selecting all the data in the template and pasting it somewhere else.

Question:
Does the word template data (string) reside in the clipboard at any time?

Or another way:
Can I call a word template and collect the data in the the word doc programatically from inside Pega?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi,
With the help of Rule-File-EForm, you can upload the Word/PDF template. After that Rule-Map-Eform instance is used to map the Word/PDF fileds to the clipboard properties.By calling the GenerateEForm OOTB activity, you can generate the Word/PDF doc. This activity return Java Object for the Word/PDF data. Use this ojbject until you attach it to WO (if any requirement) and then delete it.For more information, check the developer help and samples from the portal.

Word are working with eForm? Please get link to the manual. I had read about PDF+eForm only.

The document is stored on the clipboard in Base64 encoded format so you won't be able to access the information directly. You'll need to decode it and then use a library like Apache POI to get access to the content.

Perhaps it would make more sense to capture the user supplied information in a separate field and generate the Word document after wards?
