ProductionLevel ==2 on Dev AND Live!

Dear Forum

It was my understanding from one of our Pega consultants that pzProductionLevel == 2 on Dev and 5 on Live. After writing some conditions based on this, it turns out the conditions failed as it's 2 on Dev and Live.

Does anyone have any idea?

The Production level can be any value from 1 to 5, with 5 being "most secure".

The *recommendation" is that you set this level to 2 on a development system and to 5 on a production system. This is optional. By setting a higher value, you cause more restrictive behavior (which users can do what) defined thru Rule-Access-Role-Obj rules. Basically, a system with production level 5 enforces tigher restrictions on which roles can do what with which objects - especially changes to rules.

To change the production level, open the Data-Admin-System data instance, enter a new value, and save. The change is effect (on that node) the next time the system is restarted.

Many thanks for the reply.

I was under the impression that pzProductionLevel was always 2 for the dev system, 5 for live etc, and this was set up when Pega was installed. Seems I was wrong, although I'm in good company as it was a Pega consultant who told me this [:)]

Is there any other property that 'knows' whether you are on dev, live etc? If not I guess I can write a stored procedure that gets this info from the database.

This is one of the things we just put in our runbook for the Deployment Engineer to set manually when they install a system. This record is not touched upon a local rule migration.

OK I will write an activity /SP to get the information from the database.

Thanks for everyone's help.
