Increasing Maximum Length Of A Property

Hi All,

We have a requirement where we have to increase the property maxlength from 5 to 6, as we are not able to update the property from the property rule, we wrote an activity that opens the instance based on pzInsKey and made the required changes (set maxLength property to 6) and committed the instance.

Now the issue is:

Whenever I open the Property definition, it shows the updated value (6 as maximum Length)but when I check out the rule and try to work on it, it is reflecting to the previous value (5 as maximum length).

Also from the UI we are not able to save a value that is in accordance to the new maximum length.

The version that we are using is 5.2

Appreciate your response!

Thanks

Swetha.

did you check the db column size? I think you can withdraw the property rule in one of the version and in the next version create a new property again .

Hi Ram,

Thanks for the reply!

This is not an exposed property, it’s in the blob.

Do you think withdrawing a property that is already in production will create any issue?

Thanks

Swetha.

i don't think it will create any problem as such, the only thing is that you have to make sure that the withdrawn property RSV and new property RSV must be included in same release

Hi,

My requirement is to modify the maximum length of a property type 'Double' to 13 characters. I tried setting the 'Expected Length' as '13' and associated the control 'FixedSize' in General tab of property rule but it didn't work. Any suggestions other than using Edit Validate rule in property form are appreciated!

Thanks,
Vignesh.

The same resolution will work for you as well, withdraw the property rule in current RSV and CREATE a  new property with same name in higer RSV and make sure both RSVs will go in same release to higher environments
