Are xml pages in SOAP deprecated from 5.5 ??

Is there any document to show how to manage complex xml parsing and formatting with XML Page option that meant to be document - literal with PRPC 5.4? That is the only option I could find to use Literal other than RPC encoding but I have had a hard time to parse the request xml and construct response xml. The only information I could find is use Model rule but it didn't do anything.
